Our Story started with the unseen workers and their families
Our mission began with a passion to support Unseen Workers, individuals crucial to our daily lives, yet facing compromised work conditions, wellbeing, and dignity. Initially focused on truck drivers, shipbreaking workers, sanitation and Asha workers, our mission extends to uplifting all segments of unseen workers and their families.

THE PLATFORM FOR PROGRESS
Improving the Quality of Life for Unseen Humans and their families in Asia/Africa. The UNHU Platform shall empower workers with awareness and convenient, affordable access to essential services that can enhance their quality of life, by partnering with a wide ecosystem of employers, financial services providers, healthcare providers, legal service providers, worker forums, foundations, NGOs, Government agencies and other relevant organizations.
In our quest to gain an in-depth understanding of the needs of the unseen workers, we aspire to commission research periodically on different segments. In this context, our initial research was a pan-India study, focused on the segment of truck drivers. A brief summary of this research is mentioned below. The report is also available for download
India relies heavily on road transport for freight movement and efficient supply chain management.During the COVID-19 pandemic, truck drivers also emerged as valiant ‘corona warriors’ for delivering essential lifesaving medical and household supplies. The trucker’s profession, however, is very demanding and involves obvious as well as implicit issues and challenges e.g. irregular shifts, long trips without adequate rest, hostile working conditions, unaddressed health issues, etc.
This study aims to facilitate evidence-based planning and interventions for the welfare of truck drivers, by providing insights into their situation, health and well-being.
“There were nights I slept in my truck without food—until I found UNHU. It changed the way I look after myself.”
– Ramesh Yadav, Truck Driver
Our Friends, Partners and Collaborators
Through a web-based portal, partners and employers engage with UNHU’s platform, accessing comprehensive data and leveraging an empathy-driven benefits platform to enhance the overall well-being of workers.
Benefits Portal and Data Dashboard
The web portal serves as a benefits platform where employers can onboard their contract/ informal workers and offer them relevant benefit schemes through UNHU. The Platform also provides data-driven insights, which can allow employers to track their workers’ interest and take up of benefit schemes. These can be viewed through a dashboard accessible through the user-friendly web app interface.
Empathetic Engagement with Workers
The web portal allows employers to post messages, training videos and other important information, which can be easily accessed by the workers on their App. Employers can also use the rewards mechanism to award reward points to workers for specific actions. This allows for enhancing empathetic communication between the employer and their workers, enhancing their mutual trust, loyalty and retention.
